Recommendation Letters

Recommendation Letters

I am happy to write letters of recommendation for students, and I take this responsibility seriously. To ensure that I can provide strong, personalized letters and manage requests fairly, please note the following guidelines:

  1. Eligibility: I will write recommendation letters only for students who meet at least one of the following criteria:
  2. Have completed at least one course with me (i.e., stayed through the final week and received a final grade).
  3. Have engaged in intensive research activities with me for a minimum of six months.
  4. Are co-authors on at least one formal publication with me.

  5. Number of Letters: I will write recommendation letters for up to four institutions or organizations per student. If you are applying to more than four programs or positions, please prioritize the ones where my letter would have the greatest impact or is most essential.

  6. Student Draft Required: To better tailor the letter, I require that each student submit a draft of the recommendation letter. I will revise, edit, and write the final version based on your draft.

  7. Timeline: Please submit your request and draft at least one weeks before the earliest deadline. Late requests may not be accommodated.

  8. Other Requirements:

  9. Include your resume or CV with your request.
  10. Provide a list of programs or positions where the letter would be sent or requested in the email.
  11. Share a brief summary of your work with me (e.g., courses taken, projects, research contributions) in the email.

These policies help ensure fairness and allow me to write the strongest possible letters. Thank you for understanding.
